During the first half of 2019, the WAQSP continued its support to the Conformity Assessment Bodies. Three (3) GSA (Ghana Standards Authority) laboratories passed their accreditation assessment from April 2 to 5, 2019. At the same time, following an international call for tender, the WAQSP selected AFNOR Middle East to carry out certification audit on ISO 9001 version 2015 for four (4) national pharmaceutical inspection bodies. This follows the implementation of quality management systems from April 2018 to February 2019. The certification audits were therefore conducted by May-June 2019. The audits were conducted in Nigeria, at the NAFDAC by May 22-30, and in Liberia, at the Liberia Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA), on May 28-31. PBSL (Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone) held from June 5 to 7, 2019, and finally in the Gambia at the MCA (Medicines Control Agency), from June 12 to 13, 2019.

The NAFDAC has been granted certification from AFNOR after the audit for its fourteen sites. It has just received his certificate covering the following areas: chemicals inspection (GWP), drugs inspection (GMP, GCP), narcotics and controlled substances inspection, food safety and applied nutrition inspection (GMP, GHP), veterinary medicines and allied products inspection (GMP, GWP), ports

inspection, product registration, documents authentication and review, pharmacovigilance and post market surveillance, regulations and guidelines, investigation and enforcement, laboratory quality control testing.
