As part of a series of trainings initiated and conducted by the West Africa Quality System Programme (WAQSP) in the field of quality for the benefit of promoters and managers of private sector companies, about thirty representatives of these companies in Cape Verde were trained on the ISO 9001 v 2015 standard. It was during a workshop organized on 18 and 20 June 2019 in the premises of the Institute of Quality Management and Intellectual Property (IGQPI) in Praia.

The aim is to equip these promoters and managers of private companies to take better ownership of the requirements of the ISO 9001 v 2015 standard, and to implement it in their respective companies, in order to better satisfy Cabo Verdeans consumers.

At the opening, Mrs. Ana Spencer, president of the Direction body of IGQPI, recalled that her organisation was mandated to promote quality, and in particular with the private sector and chambers of commerce, privileged partners, in order to be able to maximize the intended results. The UNIDO Coordinator in Cabo Verde, Mr. Rui Levy, highlighted the programmes being implemented that could contribute to the improvement of the competitiveness of enterprises, with particular emphasis on the WAQSP that Cabo Verde is one of the beneficiary countries.

During the course of the work, Raquel Araújo, the trainer recruited by the Programme, informed the participants about the generalities of this ISO standard, its requirements as well as its interest in the profitability of companies and the well-being of consumers. At the end, all the participants found the training interesting and very important for their companies and production units.

They have also expressed the wish to be accompanied for the efficient application of this ISO 9001 v 2015 standard in their companies.
