REGIONAL TRAINING SEMINAR ON THE PRACTICAL GUIDE ON

THE UNITED NATIONS GUIDELINES FOR CONSUMER PROTECTION

As part of its support for the implementation of the ECOWAS Quality Policy (ECOQUAL), on behalf of the ECOWAS Commission Department for Industry and Private Sector Promotion, the West Africa Quality System Programme will hold from 11-12 April 2018, a Regional Training Seminar on the Practical Guide on the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection.

The objectives of the training are the following: to support the capacity building of consumer associations and consumer organizations to better protect them and to sustain the setting up or consolidation of the national regulatory framework.

This activity will be carried out in conjunction with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which has been mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to promote this Guide.

At the end of the seminar, in addition to the mastering of the guide's recommendations by resource persons from the region (representatives of consumer associations and national organizations in charge of consumers), a draft work plan for the region will be drawn up for the implementation of the main recommendations of the guide national level.

Ultimately, the objective is to support ECOWAS Member States and Mauritania to update or adopt legal texts on information and consumer protection in accordance with the Guide.
