Meeting of the ECOWAS Community Committee for Conformity Assessment (ECOCONF), 26th-27th July 2018, Abuja, Nigeria

With the support of the European Union and UNIDO, the ECOWAS Commission is taking one step further towards establishing the Regional Product Certification Scheme: stakeholders brought together in Abuja to adopt draft documents

The ECOWAS Commission is organizing, from the 26th to 27th July 2018, in Abuja, Nigeria, a meeting of its Community Committee for Conformity Assessment (ECOCONF). This meeting takes place within the framework of the implementation of the Quality Policy of ECOWAS, through the West Africa Quality System Programme (WAQSP), funded by the European Union to the tune of 12 000 000 Euros and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Its main objective is to have ECOCONF adopt the draft documents related to the establishment of the ECOWAS Regional Product Certification Scheme. The meeting will also finalize the setting up of ECOCONF by adopting the texts relating to the organization and functioning of its three sub-committees. The workshop will be attended by the representatives of ECOWAS member States and private sector organizations, members of ECOCONF.
