The supervision mission in Guinea of the PM of the WAQSP under good auspices: the adoption of the document of the Quality Policy of Guinea in the agenda of the Interministerial Council, on Tuesday, August 14, 2018

The Programme Manager of the West Africa Quality System Programme (WAQSP), Mr. Bernard BAU, has spent three days since Wednesday, August 8, 2018, for a mission of work and supervision of UNIDO in Guinea. With the Guinean authorities, he took stock of the state of implementation of the WAQSP.

Also, he inquired about possible difficulties related to the implementation of the Programme funded by EU and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on behalf of the ECOWAS Commission. During his sojourn, Mr. BAU also discussed with the relevant authorities the future actions to be undertaken and other activities of UNIDO in Guinea.

At the working session held on Friday, August 10, 2018, the Guinean authorities expressed their satisfaction with UNIDO's support, which they described as useful and very timely for the development of the Quality Infrastructure (IQ) of Guinea. They recalled in particular the contribution of the WAQSP in the elaboration of the document of Quality Policy (QP) which constitutes, to believe these authorities, a "strategic document for the consolidation of (their) QI". They took the opportunity to announce the inclusion on the agenda of the Interministerial Council, on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, of the adoption of the document of the Quality Policy of Guinea. Finally, the Guinean authorities requested UNIDO's support for strengthening the operational capacity of technical quality structures through a country programme, such as Nigeria.

PM Bernard BAU, for his part, urged the Guinean authorities to become more involved in the implementation of the WAQSP at the national level. He also pleaded for Guinea's integration into the West African Accreditation System (SOAC).

Mr. BAU's supervision mission lasted three days.
