The first edition of the Liberia Quality Award was followed by the coronation of Duraplast Inc, winner in the Diamond category. The awards ceremony was held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Cape Hotel (Mamba Point), Monrovia, Liberian capital. Representatives from state, public and private institutions, academics and industry and business sectors honored the event with their presence.

Duraplast Inc. won the trophy in the diamond category. At its side, two other companies: Metallum and Fouani Brothers Inc. which received from the organizers, certificates of participation. The objective of this quality award is to support the Liberian companies towards the culture of quality through the placing on the market of quality goods and services.

On this occasion, Mr. Stephen Y. Mambu, National Technical Coordinator of WAQSP, congratulated the winning company and the two others for participating in the award. "The quality award remains a major asset for companies that aspire to perform in their sectors of activity. I therefore invite Liberian companies to massively participate in the quality award to gain recognition nationally, regionally and even internationally, "he said. Mr. Nyenti Kaffey, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Quality Award (NQA), briefed the participants on the organization of the second edition of the prize, inviting business managers to submit their applications. "The issue of quality remains at the heart of promoting standards for private sector development and the ceremony is a moment of crowning and official recognition of your commitment to the quality process," added, in turn, Mr. Lasana Donzo, Standards Coordinator, MOCI, before informing the public about the activities of the Liberia Standardization Harmonization Model Sheme (LiSHAM) regarding standards in Liberia.
