1st Edition of the Cape Verde Quality Award: Six (06) winning companies received their trophies

Like other ECOWAS member States, Cape Verde has organized the first edition of its National Quality Award. The awards ceremony was held on Friday November 17th, 2017, at the Hotel Porto Grande, on São Vicente Island, in the presence of the government and municipal authorities, the business leaders, the representative of the UNIDO in Cape Verde and key actors (CTN, Focal Point) of the WAQSP.

For this first edition of the quality award, six winning companies were rewarded in various categories. For the bronze trophy, the RADAR and MOAVE companies were respectively distinguished in category C (small enterprise) and category B (medium enterprise). For the silver trophy, only one company was rewarded: it is the GMS ENTERTAINMENT company in the category C (small business). The diamond trophy was awarded to three companies: LABOJOVEM in category C (small business), CASA DO CIDADÃO in category B (medium business) and CABO VERDE TELECOM in category A (large business).

In his speech, the representative of the Cape Verde Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Belarmino Lucas, emphasized that "the National Quality Award represents the commitment of our companies to quality and thus, competitiveness". For Mr. Abraão Lopes, representing the national quality structure and the WAQSP Focal Point, it is not a coincidence that the trophies were presented at the big event that is the International Trade Fair (FIC) in Cape Verde. “It is on this occasion that the economic operators meet and it is indeed the best moment to celebrate and promote the quality”, he added. The Minister of Interior, Mr. Paulo Rocha, representing the Government of Cape Verde on this occasion, said that "the National Quality Award adds value and is an engine for promoting and gaining access to companies and institutions, to other markets, namely regional markets ".

The winning companies, for their part, thanked the organizers of the national quality award in Cape Verde before dedicating the trophies to their respective staff and workers.
