National workshop on certification: The Malian government is committed to implementing the National Quality Policy (NQP)

As part of the implementation of the WAQSP, the Republic of Mali hosted, from 23 to 27 April 2018, a national workshop on the Certification of Priority Products, in particular the development and validation of specific technical regulations, certification procedures and training of the members of the particular technical committees and those of the impartiality committee. On occasion, the Malian government is committed to implementing the National Quality Policy (NQP).

State officials took advantage of this activity to reaffirm their commitment to implement the National Quality Policy (NQP) adopted since June 10, 2015, for the development and functioning of an adapted, relevant, effective and efficient National Quality Infrastructure (NQI). Ms. AG ERLESS Oumou COULIBALY, Technical Advisor, Representative of the Minister of Industrial Development (MID) of Mali, who announced the news to the great satisfaction of the participants, more than sixty, representing the structures of the public and private sectors, socio-professional organizations in the field of edible oils, concrete and cement, civil society, consulting offices, etc. She recalled the interest of a NQP and a NQI in the construction of an attractive trade and a strong economy in a country like Mali. According to her, the accompaniment of the Malian State to the actors of the public and private sectors for the development and the validation of the particular technical regulations, the procedures of certification, will not be lacking. Mr. Julien Bonzon, Representative of the Delegation of the European Union in Mali, noted the EU's willingness to continue supporting ECOWAS member States with a view to strengthening trade capacity and enterprise competitiveness (support to the private sector).

The participants validated the standards applicable in Mali for FeE500 reinforced concrete steels and the related certified product monitoring operations. They were also informed about the certification process, from the application to the granting or refusal of the certificate.
