QMS/Senegal: 20 national experts trained in the requirements of ISO 9001 version 2015

Like other beneficiary countries of the WAQSP in the ECOWAS region, the Republic of Senegal, thanks to the support of the program, has built capacity of 20 of its national experts on the requirements of the standard ISO 9001 version 2015. The training took place from 19 to 21 June 2018, in Dakar (Senegal), under the direction of the trainer François Faye.

The objective of this training workshop is to enrich this core of national competences in the field of the standard ISO 9001 version 2015, with a view to meeting at the country and sub-regional level the need for expertise and development of quality culture.

At the opening, Mr. Aboubacry Baro, National technical coordinator of the WAQSP/Senegal, recalled that "Today, everyone agrees that we cannot ensure quality without a reliable management system ". According to him, this capacity building of national resources concerns the quality management system in organizations and companies and which rests on seven (07) principles which will allow the countries of West Africa to be sitting well in terms of standardization. This is, he said: customer focus, leadership, employee involvement, process approach, decision making, improvement and management with stakeholder relationships. "We tend to migrate to an integrated management system that supports quality, safety and health at work, but also the environment among others," he said.

After the official ceremony, the trainer solicited by the WAQSP, Mr. François Faye, informed, for three days, the participants about the concept of quality and terms related to Quality Infrastructure, the history of standards with a particular emphasis on the issues of the standard ISO 9001 version 2015. He also stressed on the structural differences between the standards: ISO 9001 - 2000, ISO 9001 - 2008 and ISO 9001 - 2015. He also presented the seven (7) principles of Quality Management that form the basis of a QMS. Other aspects of this standard were discussed by the trainer with the contribution of the NTC, Mr. Aboubacry Baro. Practical work is also organized during the workshop which ended on Thursday 21 June 2018.
