EMS/Ivory Coast: 24 national resources persons trained in the standard ISO 14001 version 2015

A training workshop on the standard ISO 14001 version 2015 was held from 2 to 4 July 2018, in Abidjan / Plateau (Côte d’Ivoire). Planned and performed as part of the implementation of the West Africa Quality System Programme (WAQSP), this workshop aimed to strengthen the availability of expertise in the field of the Environmental Management System (EMS) in the country, by training twenty-four (24) national resource persons.

At the opening ceremony chaired by the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Mines of Ivory Coast, the representative of the UNIDO local office, Mr. Issouf Ouattara, thanked the Ivorian government for the holding of the workshop and the European Union for the financing of the WAQSP. He then welcomed ECOWAS's confidence in UNIDO, which enabled it to contribute to improving the ratio of available and competent human resources in the field of the standard ISO 14001. Ms. Deli Berthe Azoda, representing the Ministry of Industry of Ivory Coast, thanked Ivory Coast's partners for the holding of the workshop. She also welcomed the participants and recalled the objectives of the workshop which, according to him, will make available to Ivory Coast, qualified resource persons to serve as auditors of the Ivorian Quality Award, internal auditors, process managers and quality managers at the level of companies, primarily SMEs or serve as consultants to help companies develop their environmental system and ultimately enable Ivory Coast, to effectively address its environmental issues.

The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Brice Lokou Dali, expert selected by the WAQSP. During the three days, he informed participants about the specificities of the standard ISO 14001 version 2015, its interest in the Environmental Management System and its impact on companies, producers of wealth and economic growth. At the end of the workshop, Mrs. Azoda Deli Berthe officially gave the participants their certificates, while wishing them to use the knowledge acquired for the benefit of Côte d'Ivoire with a view to its emergence.
