The National Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control (ANM), held on October 17-19, 2018, at Azalaï Hotel in Cotonou (Benin), the second edition of the National Certification Day in Benin. It was under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Benin and with the support of the West Africa Quality System Programme (WAQSP), the Benin Movement for Quality and other local companies. We attended a series of commemorative activities made of communications, debates, testimonies, stands, exhibitions and delivery of certificate to companies.

The theme chosen this year is: "Certification, a guarantee of security for the local consumer. Require certified products’’. Several public and private administration authorities, business leaders, quality actors and consumer associations took an active part in the event.

At the official opening ceremony, the Director of Cabinet and representative of the Minister of Industry and Trade of Benin, Mr. Phileas Kpatinvoh, indicated that the chosen theme joins the priority axis of the Government's policy in terms of promotion of business in general and consumer protection in particular. "Quality is no longer the prerogative of industries or high-tech companies. It concerns all areas of the economy, whether in the manufacturing sector or the service sector, including the liberal professions ", he said. He added, moreover, that certification is a high priority because it determines the easy access of our products to national and regional markets. "It is one of the thematic areas of the National Quality Policy of Benin adopted by the Government on July 11, 2018", he said, before congratulating all stakeholders and sponsors and partners who have allowed the holding of the day. "I would like to invite Beninese companies, from the largest to the smallest, to fully adhere to the activities of the ANM and to actively participate in the promotion of quality in our country, for their own benefit, that of consumers and the national economy ", concluded the Minister's representative.

During the three days of celebration, communications were presented in the following sub-themes: "The place of consumer advocacy movements and associations of quality promotion in the device of customer satisfaction of products and services: case of the consumers Local "," The role of Quality Infrastructure (National Quality Policy) for food safety "," Panoramic view of the accreditation of the ANM for the certification of products and services ". Discussions were held around the three sub-themes by the participants.

Testimonials and exhibitions of various products and presentation of services were also organized to make Beninese genius and innovations visible. Certificates were also issued to certain companies.
